Follow Up to Asian American Hate Crimes

On March 16, a white man in Atlanta, Georgia shot and killed eight people, six of whom were Asian women. Though the local deputy sheriff claimed that the shooter had had a “really bad day,” the incident drew attention to the rise of anti-Asian hate crimes and shed light on discrimination against and fetishization of Asian American women.

Electric Cars on Campus: A Portrait

In recent years, electric cars have increased in popularity among members in the school community. In an effort to promote the use of renewable energy and incentivize faculty to choose electric over Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) vehicles, the school has installed Level 2 charging stations, located near the Mars Athletic Center, Science Building, and various dorms.

Walker Auditorium Receives Infrastructure Upgrades

For the past six decades, Walker Auditorium has served as a gathering place for community events such as All-School meetings, guest speaker presentations, Hotchkiss Dramatic Association (HDA) productions, dance performances, and film screenings. The auditorium is being renovated this year as part of the Class of 2019 and 2020 Senior Parents Gift.

Julian Leonhardt ’21 is a three-year Senior who plays defense on the Boys Varsity Hockey team. He also played for the Portland Jr. Winterhawks while growing up in Vancouver, Washington. Teammate Luke Johnson ’22 said, “He was my [defense] partner last year, and I wouldn’t have wanted to play with anyone else. He’s a beauty on and off the ice.”
